Canada Summer Jobs

As part of the Canada Summer Jobs Program, River of Life Alliance Church is seeking three individuals to fill the following roles:

  • Outreach Program Coordinator

  • Community Program Director

  • Communications Director

Start dates will be flexible which could be between mid-May to June 2021. These are all full-time positions


Requirements:
Must be between the ages of 16 and 30
Must have PR status or have Canadian citizenship

Compensation:

Salary will be at $15.00 per hour

We are currently not offering housing accommodations for the chosen candidates.

  • Outreach Program Coordinator

    The Outreach Program Coordinator will be in charge of leading River of Life Alliance Church into greater community engagement


    Key Responsibilities:

    • plan and execute a minimum of two (2) activities or events per week that engage Midnapore, our church's neighbourhood and take into consideration different groups such as children and youth to all-age inclusion
    • nurture RLAC's partnership with other NGOs to support the vulnerable in Midnapore
    • recruit volunteers for each event and create a team that sustains the church's engagement with the local community
    • must build relationships with local community members
    The chosen candidate should incorporate the church's Christian values into their work and be available to participate in Sunday worship services. The chosen candidate should respect the current COVID restrictions when planning and respect the ministry budget.
  • Community Programs Director

    (Young Adults Ministry)

    The Community Programs Director will be in charge of organizing and planning a minimum of two (2) gatherings each week (in-person and online) for the young adults over 18 within RLAC and the surrounding local community. The CPD must teach Christian-based lessons about the Bible and daily life on a weekly basis.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • working with the youth pastor, assist new high school graduates as they transition to post-secondary life and integrating them to the existing YA group and meeting one-on-one as needed
    • manage and lead a existing core of YA Ministry volunteers
    • create a detailed 2021-2022 calendar with weekly activities, events, and teachings. This calendar must be created to aid existing volunteers to continue running programs once this position ends.
    • create content on social media to engage young adults

    The chosen candidate should incorporate the church's Christian values into their work and be available to participate in Sunday worship services. The chosen candidate should respect the current COVID restrictions when planning and respect the ministry budget.

  • Communications Director

    Principally, the purpose of this role is to help tell our stories through various forms of media and provide expertise on effective communication of both corporate and ministry-specific messages. The Communications Director serves to output information to the congregation of and the community surrounding River of Life Alliance Church (RLAC).and participate as part of the Creative Team, brainstorming and envisioning way to communicate with our congregation and community.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • revamp and maintain the church website via Squarespace
    • manage web communication and the church's social media accounts
    • reproduce and distribute sermon messages on a weekly basis
    • assist with printed communication as needed
    • attend weekly staff meetings
    • scheduling and assigning volunteers as needed regarding production and communications

    Must have proficiency in church database systems (Planning Center, CCLI, etc) and programs for media and livestream needs (Microsoft Office Suite, YouTube Studio, OBS, ProPresenter 7, etc)


    The chosen candidate must be available to participate in Sunday worship services handling livestream duties. A goal for the summer would be to recruit and train a sustainable team of volunteers for livestream and media work.
